Gold Coast Registry-Style Weddings

Not every marriage needs a ceremony. Some couples know exactly what they want — to be legally married, with warmth and without fuss, and then get on with the life they are building together.
A registry-style wedding is not a lesser version of something bigger. It is a deliberate, considered choice. The legal words, two witnesses, a registered celebrant, and the commitment you are making to each other. Simple, complete and entirely focused on what matters.
Simple does not mean impersonal. Every registry-style ceremony I conduct is delivered with the same care, warmth and professionalism as any other ceremony I perform. The difference is scope, not quality.
I offer two options on this page. A Registry-Style Legals Only ceremony for couples who want the most straightforward path to being legally married. And a Co-Pilot ceremony for couples who want a trusted friend or family member to lead their ceremony while I manage the legal requirements.
And if you are considering something a little more — a personalised ceremony with space for your vows and a small gathering of your closest people — my elopement packages may be worth a look. They start from $800 and are designed for two to 35 guests.

Who Is This Perfect For
Registry-style and Co-Pilot ceremonies attract a specific kind of couple. Here are the ones I work with most often.
Couples who want simplicity as a deliberate choice.
You are not settling for less. You are choosing exactly what you want. The legal commitment, done properly, without anything that does not belong. You will celebrate in your own way, in your own time, and this is the part that makes it official.
Second Marriages
You have done the big event. You know what matters and what does not. This time you want something quiet, private and entirely focused on the two of you. No performance, no obligation, just the commitment.
Couples who have already celebrated overseas or are planning on a destination wedding.
You got married abroad and need your marriage legally recognised in Australia. Or you held or are planning to hold a beautiful celebration without the legal ceremony and now you want to make it official. Either way, this is the straightforward, warm solution.
Overseas nationals and visa holders
Getting legally married in Australia is a common requirement for visa applications and residency processes. A registry-style ceremony is the most efficient and legally complete way to meet that requirement, delivered with genuine care rather than bureaucratic detachment.
Time-poor couples
You are busy. Planning a ceremony is not at the top of your list. You want it done properly, by someone who knows what they are doing, without it taking over your life. One meeting to get the paperwork sorted, and then you can be married within a calendar month.
Couples planning a larger celebration later
Some couples choose to be legally married first and celebrate with family and friends at a later date. A registry-style ceremony gives you the legal security of being married now, with the celebration to come whenever the timing is right.
Couples who find being the centre of attention genuinely uncomfortable
Not everyone wants to stand in front of a room full of people. A registry-style ceremony removes that pressure entirely. Just the two of you, two witnesses, and the words that make it official. Quiet, private and entirely on your terms.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a registry-style wedding?
A registry-style wedding is a short, legally complete marriage ceremony that includes only what Australian law requires. The legally required words, two witnesses and a registered celebrant. It is simple, warm and focused entirely on the commitment — without personalised storytelling, rituals or styling. Read more about this type of wedding here.
Is a registry-style wedding legally binding?
Yes, completely. A registry-style ceremony conducted by a registered marriage celebrant is exactly as legally binding as any other wedding ceremony in Australia. I lodge all the paperwork with the relevant authorities after the ceremony and you receive your commemorative certificate on the day.
How long does a registry-style ceremony take?
Approximately ten minutes. The legally required words are brief and I deliver them with warmth and care. The paperwork is signed, the ceremony is complete and you are legally married. If you would like a little more time — a moment to exchange personal words or simply to mark the occasion — we can discuss that when we speak.
Can we add personal vows to a registry-style ceremony?
The Registry-Style Legals Only ceremony includes the legally required words only. However, if you would like to include some brief personal vows, or a ring exchange I don't mind. For anything more personalised, and with more than just 2 witnesses, my elopement packages are designed for exactly that and start from $800. Book a free planning call and we can work out which option suits you best.
Where can a registry-style ceremony take place?
Almost anywhere. A park, a backyard, a quiet outdoor space, a rooftop, or wherever feels right for you. The ceremony is simple enough to happen in most settings without the need for permits or venue hire. I will advise on any location-specific considerations when we speak.
What do we need to bring on the day?
Your two witnesses aged 18 or over, your proof of identity documents, and yourselves. I take care of everything else including the paperwork, the legal delivery and the lodgement afterwards.
What is the notice period for getting married in Australia?
A minimum of one calendar month's notice is required by Australian law. This means you must lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage with me at least one calendar month before your ceremony date. The maximum notice period is 18 months. I will send you the form and guide you through completing it at our first meeting.
What is a Co-Pilot ceremony?
A Co-Pilot ceremony is led by a trusted friend or family member of your choice, with me managing all the legal requirements. Your chosen person delivers the ceremony in their own voice and style. I handle the structure, the paperwork and the legal elements, and I support them throughout so they can focus on you. The legal words can be woven into the ceremony, completed privately beforehand, or handled quietly at the signing table. We design the format together.
Can we get married on a weekday?
Yes. Weekday ceremonies are available at the lower price point and are a popular choice for couples who want a quiet, unhurried ceremony without the weekend premium. Limited weekend availability is also offered. Get in touch to check availability for your preferred date.
