Doing It Differently: Cake!

#weddingcake #weddingcakeideas #weddingcookies ooh so delicious, and yes you can do it differently. Such an embedded tradition of weddings, in fact it has been part of weddings since the Greek and Roman times. It started as breaking bread for fertility and luck, then in the Middle Ages it became more about the sweet stuff, cake! It is, obviously, a delicious addition to your marriage plans but it can be expensive and fraught with pitfalls if you are trying to please everyone. So, here are some ideas to save you the stress and possibly give your curiosity a push towards something more fitting for your plans for the day.

Dietary Dilemmas - just a quick word on catering to complex dietary needs, as a coeliac myself I know how hard it is to find delicious, beautiful baked goods. So please allow me a moment to share a local vendor who does A.M.A.Z.I.N.G cakes and baked goods in a kitchen that is FREE FROM the top 8 allergens. YES! YES! YES! @wilderflower_wanderberries is based in Mt Tambourine and well worth a look for those with tricky dietary needs Allergy Friendly Custom Cakes | Gold Coast | Wilderflower & Wanderberries

Wedding Cookies - perfect for small affairs or as a guest gift wedding cookies are becoming a 'thing'. Here are some local vendors to consider:

@belu_personalised_cookies do beautiful sugar decorated cookies in GF and traditional also check out @pastel_rascals @prettyyummycookieco

Cheese Towers - who says you have to have cake? Why not finish with something elegant, savoury and spectacular? Cheese Towers are a delicious alternative to surgery bakes desserts, think grown up arrangements with dried and fresh fruits, crudités and honey nuts perhaps? Either way, Cheese Towers are well worth a look. Here are a few local (read Brisbane and Gold Coast) vendors to go to for inspiration and information:

@thecheesebar @fromagethecow and if you want to DIY speak to @quince.cellar

Other Ideas - think beyond the big cake and consider sharing platters of baked goodies or towers of donuts, macarons, cupcakes and brownies. Anything is possible and catering to dietary needs is often easier with alternatives like this. Here are a couple of excellent dietary specific vendors on the GC: @gfreedonutsgc @omgdonuts.australia do amazing GF donuts with spectacular flavoured sugars both are coeliac and vegan friendly which is awesome.

@karmacupcakes1 @myfavouritebaker @elegantlyfrosted not coeliac safe but ask about Gluten Free options for those with higher tolerances to gluten.
